Ferrari Launches Luce, Marking a New Chapter with Its First Fully Electric Car

Ferrari has officially entered the electric era with the unveiling of the Luce, the company’s first fully electric production vehicle, opening what the Italian automaker describes as a new chapter in its history. Designed to combine Ferrari’s long-standing heritage with advanced electric technology, the Luce represents one of the most significant product launches in the company’s modern era. Ferrari says the model has been created not simply as an electric vehicle, but as a Ferrari in every sense of the word.

The name Luce, which translates to “light” in Italian, was chosen to communicate several ideas central to the vehicle’s identity, including lightness, speed, innovation and a sense of the future. Ferrari said the project aims to preserve the emotional and sensory experience traditionally associated with the Prancing Horse while introducing an entirely new technological architecture.

Unlike expectations surrounding a traditional two-seat supercar, Ferrari has introduced the Luce as a four-door, five-seat grand touring vehicle. The company said the design approach was intended to create a versatile car that can combine everyday usability with Ferrari’s performance philosophy. The launch also signals Ferrari’s interest in broadening its audience while maintaining the exclusivity and character that define the brand.

At the center of the Luce is a newly developed electric platform built entirely in Maranello. The vehicle features four independent electric motors, one for each wheel, delivering a combined output of more than 1,000 horsepower. Ferrari says the architecture allows unprecedented precision in vehicle control, with the system independently managing power distribution and vehicle dynamics.

According to the company, the Luce accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in approximately 2.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of more than 310 kilometers per hour. The electric grand tourer also offers a driving range exceeding 500 kilometers on a full charge. Ferrari said these figures demonstrate that electrification does not require sacrificing the performance standards associated with the brand.

The Luce also introduces a new design language for Ferrari. The company collaborated with creative collective LoveFrom, founded by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson, to develop the vehicle’s visual identity and user experience. Ferrari described the design philosophy as one built around clarity, simplicity and continuity between the exterior, interior and interface.

As Ferrari begins its electric journey, the Luce stands as more than simply the company’s first EV. It serves as a statement about how Ferrari sees the future — one where innovation, technology and performance evolve together while remaining rooted in the brand’s core values.
